Start with the wall construction, stud position, screen model, bracket and any known renovation history. Queensland asbestos guidance says homes built or renovated before 1990 are likely to contain asbestos materials somewhere, including walls and ceilings, and the only way to confirm a suspect product is laboratory testing. Do not assume an older sheet wall is safe to drill.

Communications cabling connected to a telecommunications network is regulated work. ACMA says a registered cabler can install and maintain data cabling and sockets in existing or new buildings, and the 2025 Cabling Provider Rules require the appropriate registration and competencies. Queensland guidance says a lot owner needs approval for improvements to common property, and under a building format plan some boundary structures may be body corporate maintenance responsibility. Check the survey plan, by-laws and building-manager access rules before drilling or routing cable.
