We found no current official evidence that asphalt shingles are common on new South East Queensland homes, so a shingle-style roof should be identified by its exact product rather than assumed.

Roof and ceiling work can involve fall and electrical hazards. WorkSafe Queensland identifies aerial and cabling work on roofs and in ceiling spaces as serious-risk work, while Queensland storm guidance says to remain inside during a severe storm warning. Roof access therefore depends on the conditions at the property and may need to be rescheduled.

First confirm whether the roof, riser, wall, outlet or shared television system is part of the lot or common property. Queensland body corporate guidance says owner improvements to common property require approval, and the body corporate controls and maintains common property.
